As vehicles were being increased due to complex and diverse human life and over population in the city, the subway has been introduced with a purpose of solving traffic congestion on the ground and replacing it.
The subway space was only part of connection for drift and flow in the past but today, it serves as both concept of stay and a significant variable of cultural space as connecting space with other activities of the upper part of the city. Accordingly, the subway space is not irrelevant to external space, but requires expansion and improvement as differentiated cultural space to evaluate the efficiency of the urban center as an extension line of community culture and reflect its characteristics.
Thus, this study did an comparative analysis after selecting and investigating 3 places that cultural exhibition space are built in the subway station and 3 places which are not and making on-the-spot survey. Based on these contents, the general population using subway was surveyed the questionnaire of the first round. The conclusion was drawn by analyzing the current status and frequency in use of cultural exhibition space in subway station, preferred works exhibited, demands for the installation place and satisfaction, and the meaning of the study lies in proposing methods to make use of better cultural exhibition space in subway station in the future making up for the shortcomings.
