This study focused on the type of news frame used in politically sensitive issues such as the president’s early state affairs performance. The general public does not directly experience the president’s conduct of state affairs and is completely dependent on media reports, and conservative and progressive media are reporting political issues according to their own political colours. By analysing the attitudes of the representative conservative and progressive media in Korea, the relationship between t he government and the media in the early days of power can be explored and discussions about the social role of the media can be drawn out. Conservative and progressive media may have different influences on news users (the people) by showing different media attitudes on politically sensitive issues. Therefore, the media attitude can be a variable in the result of the public approval rating. In particular as the 20th president was elected amid a stark confrontation between conservatives and progressives, the faction of the media seems to have affected the president’s approval rating for state affairs.
